Cut Off? Still Want To Work?
I am cut off at my home location, but I still want to work even if I have to travel to do so. What do I do now?
- When an employee is cut-off/furloughed, the notification letter sent by CMC will include a notice that the employee may stand to work at other locations within their seniority district. It will also contain the contact number(s) of the CMC officer(s) the employee will need to contact to establish where that next closest location where they stand to work is (and where they will be paid to qualify).
- Once the employee contacts the designated CMC officer, that officer will determine where the next closest location is that the employee stands to work (taking into consideration the number of senior employees working at the location, whether they are in displaced status or not, versus the number of working train service positions at the supply point.) Following that:
- The cut-off employee will be notified of the location, and given a contact number/person to set up qualifying runs.
- The CMC supervisor will send an email message to the local supervisor, with a copy to the GC office, notifying him that the cut-off employee will be contacting him to set up a qualifying schedule; and that the employee is authorized to receive CQ payments under the schedule set up by the local supervisor.
- If the transferring employee encounters resistance from the local supervisor, or the local supervisor simply does not return his/her calls, that employee should contact the UTU General Committee office (904-268-4420) for further assistance.
It is imperative that the cut-off member contact Mr. Lampka, Mr. Allen or Mr. Smith, respectively, as indicated below because only they have the authority to determine the next closest location where the employee stands to work and will be paid for qualifying (taking into consideration displaced employees and vacant positions). An employee seeking alternate (local) authority, or qualifying without proper CMC authority, will be doing so at their own expense. If a cut-off employee encounters problems contacting Mr. Lampka, Mr. Allen or Mr. Smith, they should contact the General Committee office (904-268-4420) for assistance.
