CSXT will soon be sending letters to each furloughed employee to announce they have developed a toll-free Employee Service Hotline to assist furloughed employees and help answer their questions about benefits, their crew district status, seniority status issues, employment opportunities, payroll and other important matters. Beginning Tuesday, March 3, CSXT staff will be available weekdays during business hours to assist furloughed employees when they call:

CSXT stresses in the letter their business has been impacted significantly by weak consumer demand and the global recession, indicating volumes are down 20% on average.  They will also express regret over having to furlough what they term as “valued employees", pledging to work diligently to bring employees back to work as soon as possible.
